Lehenga
This series delves into the evolution of Desi women and their fashion choices. As a Bengali woman raised in NYC, I found difficulty taking pride in my heritage. A majority of my life was spent assimilating to Western culture. It was in my adulthood that I began finding a bridge between the two, combining aspects of fashion on both sides, incorporating "hype" street-style fashion with the components of Desi clothing and adornment. I saw that there were ways in which fashion had shifted for inclusivity in an area I used to see divide.
